Product information "Anthurium besseae cf (medium)"
Name: Anthurium besseae cf., Croat 2005
Synonyms:

not known

Etymology:

besseae = The species is named in honour of Libby BESSE, a long-time benefactor, board member and volunteer of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, who sponsored many expeditions to Latin America, especially Ecuador, and collected the living plant from which the type specimens were prepared.

Propagation: division
Origin: Bolivia
Habitat:

Anthurium besseae grows terrestrially and is endemic to the type locality in the department of Cochabamba, Chapare province, at 240 m.

Notes:

The new leaves come very light and pale, but darken as they grow. Very beautiful is the changing colour spectrum during growth, in the young stage they are pink-red, brown-blue and later dark green to almost black. The beautifully structured upper side of the leaves resembles the facets of a cut diamond. Each facet reflects the light in a contrasting way, so that the leaves always produce a different light effect depending on the incidence of light.
