fornicifolium: fornicatus = arched, folius = leaf
epiphytic in the premontane humid forest zone at 800-1000m altitude in the western slopes of the Cordillera de Cutucú.
Anthurium fornicifolium was first collected in 1976 by Dr Michael Madison (Madison & al. 2696), who was then working at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. It has been cultivated there since then and was described by Thomas B. Croat in 2005.
