hemiepiphytic climber, both on both sides of the Andes and in the Amazon basin at altitudes from sea level to 1200m.
Like many other monsteras, Monstera spruceana forms closely spaced round leaves when young. Only later do the pinnate leaves form, the decisive momentum is not the size of the plant but its age.
