Etymology:

donburnsii = Donald Burns (1942-2008), on the board of the Int'l Aroid Society from 1998 - 2000.

Origin: Ecuador
Habitat:

On the Pacific side of the Andes in the humid tropical forest without precise information. The type plant was found near the Rio Morona at about 200m altitude.

Notes:

Unlike anthuriums or other aroid plants, Ulearum forms an underground rhizome from which a new leaf grows up every 3-8cm.
Ulearum donburnsii 'Crown' has a "cloud-like, silvery" patch on the leaf that gives this species its specific appearance.
