sharoniae = The species is named in honor of Sharon Christoph Davidson who, along with her husband Chris Davidson, has been a field companion and a great supporter of my work with the Araceae. Sharon and Chris are both excellent photographers, excellent collectors, and wonderful field companions. It is always fun to be in the field with them. I am honored to name this exquisite new species in their honor. (Tom Croat pers. comm.)
