brandtianum = Johann Friedrich von Brandt (* May 25, 1802 in Jüterbog, Electorate of Saxony; † July 15, 1879 in Merreküll, Estonia, then Russian Empire) was a German naturalist, physician, zoologist and botanist. His botanical author code is "Brandt".

The young leaves have a distinct, attractive green-grey pattern, which decreases with age, very stable, distinct leaf veins then form on the underside of the leaf, giving stability to the large leaves.
