Habitat:

epiphytic, lithophytic, rarely terrestrial, always in moss cushions, in cloud forests at altitudes from 750 to 2000 meters

Notes:

Dendrobium violaceum vary considerably in size and shape, but the leaves are usually distinctive because they are long and linear, arising together from the top of the pseudobulbs. Plants in exposed positions have shorter, broader and stiffer leaves.
