Habitat:

epiphytic on wet, mossy trees at elevations from 2000 to 2500m in the Pacific Andes.

Notes:

The type originates from the first collection by Padre Angel Andretta & A. Hirtz, and first flowered in Cuenca. Luer found Dracula andreettae again on July 12, 1977 in Carcha, Ecuador, and described it first as Masdevallia andreettae. A short time later, he transferred it to the genus Dracula, which he founded.
Dracula andreettae can produce 20-25cm long pendulous inflorescence stems with up to 2 flowers per stem, flower size is highly variable at 12 -20cm
