Etymology:

benedictii = Benedict Roezl, 1823 - 1884, was a k. k. Austro-Bohemian botanist and orchid collector. He made over 100,000 herbarium specimens and introduced almost 800 new orchid species into culture.

Habitat:

epiphytic on wet, mossy trees in the Zental Andes in cloud forest at elevations from 1700 to 2300m.

Notes:

Dracula benedictii has relatively small flowers at just under 8cm, inflorescence stems arise laterally or descending, 2-3 flowers per inflorescence are normal on average.
