|Name:||Lepanthes caprimulgus, Luer 1976|
caprimulgus = a large and very widespread genus of nightjars
epiphytic in oak forests at 2800m altitude
According to LUER, Lepanthes caprimulgus was found only once by Janet Kuhn in Peru, all plants on the market today are said to be descended from this collection. This small species produces one to three 5 mm flowers on long, overhanging inflorescences, which reminded the author of nightjars. If you look at the flower from the front at an angle, you can understand his idea.
