|Name:||Barkeria whartoniana, (C. Schweinf.) Soto Arenas 1993|
Epidendrum whartonianum, C. Schweinf. 1948
whartoniana = after Wharton, maybe Wharton's Park in U.K.?
Plants are found growing on epiphytically on trees and lithophytically on rock outcroppings in the hot and dry deciduous forest of Oaxaca state of Mexico at elevations of 200 to 300 meters
This small-statured species grows exposed in full sun, in nature, overall very dry. Regular dew at dawn and dusk sufficiently feed the plants. In cutlure, this means always spraying at dusk, keeping dry during the warm part of the day. Barkeria whartoniana usually grows best tied up on wood.
