Cypripedium caudatum var. lindenii (Lindl.) J.H. Veitch 1889
lindenii = Jean Jules LINDEN (12 February 1817, in Luxembourg – 12 January 1898, in Brussels) was a Belgian botanist, explorer, horticulturist and businessman. He specialised in orchids, which he wrote a number of books about.

terrestrial (often growing together with Pleurothallis) on roadsides at altitudes from 1200 to 2850 meters
the species is somewhat smaller than Phragmipedium caudatum. Grows in grassy areas, the lip is also transformed into a petal. The drooping petals allow insects to climb up them for pollination of the flower.
