Phragm. Cardinale is one of the oldest known hybrids. This hybrid dates from a time when sowing was still done on material (soil or branches) that came directly from the origianl site. Asymbiotic seeding was unknown at that time. Registration of hybrids took place only at the beginning of the 20th century, with the SANDERS list prevailing over Rolfe's list. That is why today this hybrid has 5 different names:
Phragm.Albanense, Veitch 1882
In the trade, the name Phragm. Cardinale nowadays is the most common name for this hybrid.
