Notes: | Tillandsia purpurea was already described in 1802 by Hipolito Ruiz and Jose Pavon. The species grows in large to very large clusters in very dry areas, mostly terrestrially. The inflorescence is upright with branches in purple, the single flower is white inside with a thick dark blue border. |
