schramii = named in honor of James Schram of Los Angeles, California, the co-discoverer of this species

Habitat:

lithophytic on mossy stones in the province of Zamora-Chinchipe in cloud forests at altitudes of 1600 to 1800 meters

Notes:

Porroglossum peruvianum has inflorescence stems up to 10cm long, arising upwards, at their end usually only one flower of 10-15mm in size arises.
Porroglossum schramii was found in November 1978 by W. Teague and James Schram at 1600m altitude between Loja and Zamora, then described on March 14, 1980, when the species flowered in culture at J. Schram.
