acacoyaguensis = Acacoyagua is a municipio in the south of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipio is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas.

According to Matuda's original records, Monstera acacoyaguensis grows in very open areas either along streams or in clearings; M. Madison reports locations in Chiapas in full sunlight.
All other site reports indicate semi-shaded to shaded, warm moist sites where Monstera acacoyaguensis climbs hemiphytically up hardwood trees.

Monstera acacoyaguensis is said to differ from all other Monstera in that it flowers for several weeks.
