Etymology:

dodsonii = Calaway Homer Dodson (*December 17th, 1928 – † August 9th, 2020) was an American botanist, orchidologist, and taxonomist. in 1973 Dodson was named Executive Director of the new Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, where he stayed for ten years.

Habitat:

Hemiepiphytic; stems grow climbing and clinging in tropical moist forest and premontane rainforest habitats. at elevations of 220-2000m. In Costa Rica occurring on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, in Colombia and Ecuador only in the Pacific Andes.

Notes:

Philodendron dodsonii has dark green, velvety foliage (when old), and is characterized by short internodes, adult leaves are distinctly veined
