Hemiepiphytic or epiphytic, occasionally terrestrial, in the cloud forest at elevation from 1800-2000m.

Notes:

The Cordillera de Cutucu are located in southeastern Ecuador. It is a mountain ridge slightly set off from the Andes and overlooking the Amazon basin. They are inhabited Schwara indians. This area is accessible only by foot and on horseback. In the dense rain- and cloudforest grow aroids, ferns, orchids, bromeliads and other epiphytes. Although the area is very inaccessible, Anthurium cutucuense is described as critically endangered in population.
