Notes:

The original description of Philodendron bipinnatifidum was by Schott from a collection he brought to Vienna from Brazil, presumably from near Rio de Janeiro; no specimens have survived.
Philodendron selloum was described by C. Koch from material cultivated in the Berlin Botanical Garden and sent by H. Sello, the head gardener of Sans Souci, the Imperial Prussian estate in Potsdam, and a colleague and correspondent of Koch. In an article in the Botanische Zeitung, which appeared before the first valid description, Koch (1852) stated that his Philodendron selloum was the same as Vellozo's "Arum pinnatifidum." Koch considered Schott's Philodendron bipinnatifidum to be a different species.
