Etymology:	maximus = big, large
Propagation:	seed
Origin:	Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
Habitat:	Cattleya maxima grows epiphytic, occasionally lithophytic at elevations from 10 to 1500 meters in seasonally very dry coastal forests
Notes:	Flower coloration and size is very dependent on the culture. If the plants are found at a very high altitude with strong UV radiation, the growth is much more compact, if the nights are cool, the flowers become larger than average and very colorful.
