Etymology:

micholitziana = Wilhelm Micholitz (* 1854 in Züllichau, Kreis Züllichau-Schwiebus; † December 1932) was (perhaps the best) plant hunter who collected orchids in tropical countries on behalf of the German-English gardener Henry Frederick Conrad Sander.

widespread in the Philippines, the most common sites of terrestrial growing plants are along roadsides in primary forest at altitudes of 1200 - 1500m.

Notes:

The correct name of this species should be Alocasia micholitziana 'Maxkowskii', Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' is a normal colored Alocasia without signs of variegation. Only the "variegata" form shows the bright, partly almost white leaves.
